Instruction and Workshops

This page presents some of the ongoing instruction I am involved with. I also offer invited workshops on topics in law, policy, and open knowledge. You can see some of my presentations listed in my CV and can reach out any time to discuss hosting a workshop with your institution, team, or professional community.

Resilient Digital Materials for Teaching and Learning (2020 – present)

As teachers are making an emergency shift to online education, one component of that struggle is navigating concerns around copyright when finding digital teaching materials. This webinar series addresses that and is divided into two tracks: K-12 and Higher Education. There are also two stand-alone webinar options that can be attended by both the K-12 and Higher Education community. All of the webinars will also be available on YouTube and linked to this page after the live event has ended.

OEN Certificate in Open Education Librarianship (2018 – present)

The Certificate in OER Librarianship is a comprehensive professional development program that offers formal training, a community of peers, and expert mentors in order to build sustainable, collaborative, and effective open education initiatives on higher education campuses. Librarians who successfully complete the seven-month program will receive a Certificate in OER Librarianship from the Open Education Network.

ACRL Scholarly Communication Roadshow (2013 – present)

Academic and research librarians increasingly recognize scholarly communication as a core competency of the profession. Whether helping researchers meet their funder’s mandates for public access and data sharing, guiding responsible copyright practice, or supporting new types of scholarship and instruction, librarians are leading change across campus and around the world. With this workshop, ACRL empowers our community in accelerating the transformation of the scholarly communication system.

This workshop has been updated with a series of targeted modules that reflect the most exciting and pressing issues in the field today. The goal of the structured, interactive program is to equip participants with knowledge and skills to help accelerate the transformation of the scholarly communication system.
